Killers at WaMu Theatre

Looking forward to the concert tomorrow night. The Killers are one of my favorite bands, and though they've been in the area a couple times in the last six months I've never seen them live. I've heard that WaMu theatre isn't that great but, we've been dying to go to another concert, and she found the tix for fairly cheap.

Has anyone seen a concert here?

Spring Contest Winners

Ughhh.  For those who follow the blog, you know that the polls were taken down early.  As the days towards the close of the competition, it had been brought to my attention that some users were "juking the stats."  As I could neither prove or disprove the allegations of cheating I shut the polls down and reopened voting in this thread.  Unfortunately, though the thread had many views, at the end I only received about 20 votes leaving two ties among the four highest submissions.

So I split the first place prize up between the two submitters that had the most votes.  Then I let my wife pick who should get third.  And what was originally the third place prize went to the other user that was involved in the other tie.  I am not going to repost the pics, but here is the link to all of the submissions.

The most disappointing thing about this contest, and part of the reason that this update is so late, would be the implication of cheating.  I gotta be honest it's put me in a pretty foul mood.  Call it what you want, but this may be the last contest I offer.  So I may have to find some other creative way to dispatch of the SWAG that I gather at the upcoming Emerald City Comicon.  Though I like giving back, and even more inviting people to create mockups, if I do hold another contest it'll have to be a competition based upon wins and losses, not public opinion.

Just ten days left before the Spring Contest entry date closes.  I gave you guys here at the blog three days before I put the contest up over at CAG.  And since then there have been some AWESOME entries.  Here's the recap of entries so far.  And some additional rules to clear things up.

Spring Cleaning Contest

What you see is the prize for the Spring contest. To be honest there was a scheduled contest back in mid November, but due to some personal issues I didn't have the heart to put one together.

Anyway, the contest is simple, what I ask is that you create some simple, or complex if you wish, box art for a game. What kind of game you ask? Well here's the twist: the box art for this game must be respective of a fictional collaboration between two influential forces within the video game industry. Those individuals would be Miyamoto & Bleszinski.

As far as parameters are concerned. All media will be considered; whether that be a scan from a hand drawing, a simple composition from MS Paint, or the result of good Photoshop. The deadline for entries is March 10th. And voting for the best box art will begin March 11th. Please email all entries to pixeltheories@yahoo.com

PAX Contest!

So here it is, the PAX contest.  It's late and there's not much, but it's yours for the winning.  This is also a thanks to the community members at cheapassgamer.com , they've saved me quite a few pennies over the last five years.  The contest is a 40-man tournament of Carcassonne on Xbox Live.

The Game - Carcassonne
Eight brackets of five players a piece.  The eight winners will be reduced to four in one on one, then to two, then to one.  Players will be placed in groups by seeding.  Winners will be required to take a screenshot of their game to advance in the competition.  First forty to respond are given priority, but the tournament may be expanded to meet demand.
