So now we know. H3:Recon coming next fall.
The game will be called Halo 3: Recon. The main character will be an ODST marine accompanied by the AI of the city of New Mombasa. Granted it looks like a stealth game, though I am hoping that the game takes more of a tactical team shooter style of gameplay. Maybe it's just me, but at the time the drop pods start to come through the atmosphere it seems that there's more than one Helljumper that made it to the ground.
More important though is who is the individual behind the call sign DARE.V.500341(S1)? Is this person a SI Spartan, or a Section 1 ONI officer? Additionally, the trailer begs other questions, like why a dropship of Covenant soldiers has elected to stay behind on Earth while Regret jumped to the Delta Halo? Moreover, what other UNSC forces are hidden in the area relying on guerrilla tactics?
In what may be a hint at the style of gameplay the Brutes pictured above in this ODST's HUD are outlined like those of the terrorists in the S. Mitchell's HUD in the Ghost Recon series. This would also be more reflective of the grittiness that Bungie and Microsoft tried to capture in the vignettes that led up to the release of Halo 3.
The addition of the Superintendent AI, who is helping our unnamed character add credibility to my previous theory. In all previous five Halo books there has been an AI who has helped the cause of the protagonist, and this seems to be the case in this new Halo chapter as well.
